What is a string trio?
A string trio typically consists of violin, viola, and cello. The Watercress Trio can easily become The Watercress Quartet or the Watercress Duo. We enjoy inviting a colleague to become a full quartet (2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello), or we can pair down and perform beautiful duets (violin & violin, violin & viola, violin & cello, etc). We are happy to consult with you to find the right instrument combination for your event.
How do I pick music?
We can help you – let’s get in touch! Ellen will respond and work with you to select music that best suits you and your event. We offer a wide range in styles within our repertoire and we are comfortable performing all different styles of music.
Do you play outdoors?
If your event is outdoors, we ask to be under a covered area at least 8’ X 8’ in case of inclement weather. Extreme heat, cold, and moisture can be extremely dangerous to our instruments, so it’s always preferred to have a contingency plan in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Does The Watercress Trio play at events outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area?
We are happy to drive outside the Twin Cities metro area and provide music to all of Minnesota, and sometimes Wisconsin or Iowa. Any event outside the metro area will be subject to an additional fee.
We have a vocalist/instrumentalist performing. Can the trio accompany them?
We really enjoy collaborating with other musicians at an event. If you have a family or friend who would like to perform, we would love to accompany them. Or, if you would like us to handle the details, we are happy to contact guest artists we have previously worked with to check their availability.
